joins Robert Scheffy to learn more about what makes the business so special, as well as what lies ahead in its next chapter. Robert starts by sharing insight into his own construction background and the evolution of Scheffy.
“ I graduated from LSU in construction in 2007. After that, I worked for a commercial contractor for some years before starting my own company,” Robert begins.“ I founded Scheffy in August of 2014, three months after my wife, Hilary, and I got married. Hilary is a big part of what I do; she’ s very supportive. She has her real estate license. She handles a lot of my phone calls and turns prospective clients into leads, and I couldn’ t do it without her.
“ We don’ t advertise; everything that comes through the doors is a referral from an architect, designer or previous clients,” he continues.“ We do high-end custom homes and extensive renovations, though the custom homes have become our niche. Our projects typically take around two to three years and we offer a concierge-type service where our project managers are readily available to our clients. We do a lot of traditional, Acadian-style projects with AI Jones Architects, but at the same time, we work with a lot of modern designers too. Our typical style is transitional, combining old elements like antique wooden floors, pine beams and traditional Louisiana front porches with modern elements, such as plastic wall finishings and marble countertops.”
Special project
Touching all corners of homebuilding beauty, Scheffy’ s portfolio boasts a series of stylish homes that blend historical charm with innovative modernization. From high ceilings to wooden beams, French shutters to elegant patios, Scheffy’ s projects celebrate all the enchanting qualities of traditional Louisiana architecture with a contemporary feel, making its longstanding partnership with AI Jones Architects all the more fitting. One of Scheffy’ s more recent projects in collaboration with AI Jones Architects, however, was especially significant.
