every home with a builder’ s lens.“ Iron sharpens iron.”
For Wayne, the partnership works because neither of them simply agrees for the sake of agreement.“ We challenge each other,” he explains.“ When one of us brings an idea to the table, the other refines it, pushes it, tests it.” That back-and- forth isn’ t friction, it’ s refinement. They both share the belief that the willingness to question, debate and elevate each concept ultimately leads to stronger architecture, smarter construction decisions and better outcomes for clients.
Can you walk us through how this collaboration came about? Was there a specific project or moment that sparked the partnership? The collaboration began in May 2025 after conversations about improving the traditional architect – builder model.“ Architects usually work independently from contractors,” John explains.“ They may charge seven to 12 percent of construction costs in fees, and then the builder comes in afterward. We started asking,‘ Why aren’ t we doing this together from the beginning?’” There wasn’ t one specific house that triggered it, it was more a realization that by uniting design and construction early, they could eliminate inefficiencies and provide stronger value.“ Wayne works alongside our in-house design team, creating a more seamless experience for clients from the first concept sketch through construction.”
How will this collaboration change or elevate the experience you’ re offering to your high-end clientele? The biggest shift is integration. By combining architecture and construction under one umbrella, clients gain:
■ Early cost guidance
■ Fixed-cost estimates before design even begins
■ Fewer revisions due to buildability conflicts
■ Reduced overall architectural fee layering
