On the design-build distinction, Realm operates what Kurt describes as a‘ designassist model.’“ True design-build implies an in-house architect, but I deliberately hire external architects because every client and project is unique,” he elaborates.“ Certain architects are simply better suited to certain types of projects. The designassist model allows us to act as the primary design-build contractor while managing the best external consultants as part of our team, delivering a better outcome than any generalist in-house architect could.”
